This is the second studio to be born in Poland made up of CD Projekt RED veterans.
As Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty was announced to make a reappearance at Summer Game Fest 2023 yesterday, several core members of developer CD Projekt RED have now unveiled their new game studio after saying goodbye to the Polish giant. This is how he was born Blankbased in Warsaw and a first project underway.
Blank is born after Mateusz Kanikdirector of Cyberpunk 2077 and co-director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, will once again join forces with the executive producers of The Witcher and Cyberpunk, Jędrzej Mróz and marcin jefimow. However, this is not the first studio to emerge from CD Projekt veterans, as Rebel Wolves was founded a few months ago, also in Poland, led by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz after being director of The Witcher 3 and head of production/secondary director of Cyberpunk 2077.
“We are thrilled to announce Blank and begin expanding our amazing team.”, Kanik has revealed in the announcement collected by VGC. “After working for years in an increasingly conservative industry, we are ready to make bold and impressive projects who share our creativity and unique values”.
After the troubled premiere of Cyberpunk 2077, Kanik relies on get away from the crunch and balance work and life through his new studio. Although it has not been detailed what his first project will be, for now promise to tell new and inspiring experiences through creativity.
The studio, founded with just 10 members, intends to expand to almost 60 people. Joining for now are Michal Dobrowolski (CD Projekt Red) as Design Director, Artur Ganszyniec (CD Projekt Red, 11 Bit Studios) as Narrative Director and Grzegorz Przybyś (Division 48 Studio, Artificer) Art Director.
CD Projekt RED is not for sale
Despite the numerous rumors about a possible acquisition by Sony, the strange sudden announcement of various projects or the departure of numerous employees, CD Projekt RED is not for sale, as confirmed by its own CEO, Adam Kiciński, who reveals that the studio is clear about its independent destiny through its next games.
