The Metal Gear Solid video game franchise has been a favorite of millions of video game enthusiasts since its inception in 1987. The series has come a long way since its early days on the NES, spawning numerous sequels, prequels, and spin-offs, including Ultimately coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
However, the original creator of the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Hideo Kojima, will not be involved in the latest game in the franchise, Metal Gear Solid Delta. Kojima, who was a director, screenwriter and producer, has been the driving force behind the development and success of the saga for many years, something that the Japanese creative has accustomed us to with his projects. So, why not participate in the next title of the franchise?
Why Kojima will not participate in the Metal Gear Solid: Delta project?
Kojima left Konami
Hideo Kojima dropped out Konami, the company that owns the rights to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, in 2015. After making the company a millionaire with its contributions to the franchise, Kojima’s departure was, to say the least, controversial. The situation between Kojima and Konami reached such a point that the company reportedly banned Kojima from attending the 2015 Game Awards ceremony, where he won an award for Metal Gear Solid V.
Kojima’s departure from Konami has been a well-documented and controversial ordeal, involving a complete break between the two parties, being the main reason why he does not participate in Metal Gear Solid Delta. The company has assumed full control of the franchise, and since Kojima is no longer with them, any games that come up in the franchise will not feature his direct involvement.

Attention in other projects
After leaving Konami, Kojima founded his own video game studio, Kojima Productions.. The company’s first game project was Death Stranding, which went on sale in 2019 for PlayStation 4 and PC, which led to its subsequent arrival on Games Pass PC. The game was critically acclaimed, cementing Kojima’s reputation as one of the greatest game developers of all time.
Since Kojima has been busy with other projects, such as Death Stranding 2, or something newer like Overdose, the creative has neither the time nor the apparent interest in participating in the development of anything related to the Konami franchise. Although this may be disappointing, a remake that doesn’t dismantle the original game can be a success with or without Kojima’s supervision.
Konami wants to move forward
Konami has been developing video games since the dawn of the eight-bit era. Metal Gear Solid has been one of the studio’s most successful and commercially viable franchises., and logically, the company wants the franchise to remain profitable. And despite Kojima’s absence, Konami will continue without the creative, both with the Metal Gear franchise and with other projects like Silent Hill.
More Metal Gear Solid remakes on the way? Konami only puts one condition

As we’ve said before, it may be disappointing for some fans to not see Kojima at the helm of the franchise again, but his departure isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Konami can still develop great remakes of the original games within the franchise without your inputsince they already have the original base, having to adapt only and exclusively the gameplay and the graphic section to something more in line with the times.
And you, what do you think that Kojima has nothing to do with the remake of one of his most iconic games? Do you think it will have a direct influence on the final quality of the possible new remakes that we see in the future? Or, on the contrary, would it be indifferent if the founder of Kojima Productions is related to them or not?
