Secret Invasion seems to have been conceived as a totally independent story. Will it have any future connection to the MCU?
Ali Selim is the director of the new Marvel series, Secret Invasion, which features luxury actors like Samuel L. Jackson or the recently joined MCU Emilia Clarke. Despite what many people might have thought at first, Selim has confirmed that this new story it will be completely standalone and there are no plans to fit it anywhere in any future MCU projects. That is, it has been thought and conceived as something totally separate.
We can know this thanks to a talk that the director has had for Screen Rant, it was there where Ali Selim explained that Secret Invasion was intended as a single pack of six episodes; and it was not designed for us to see in future movies or series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If you want to know how they did it, then we will tell you everything so that you do not miss any detail.
Will Secret Invasion be a standalone story? There are different opinions
It has been Ali Selim who has commented that he worked hard together with other people to make this happen, however, It seems that the opinion of some actors are different from what the director tells us. Who can we pay attention to? We still don’t know for sure, the only thing left for us is to be attentive to find out connections with the new projects that the MCU presents.
I worked very hard with Jonathan Schwartz, Alana Williams, Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito to make sure that this story could stand alone and excite the audience on its own. My wife will see the story and she will love it.
However, as we mentioned a few lines ago, not everyone agrees with these statements. Without going any further, Don Cheadle, actor who gives life to War Machine in the MCU has said that This Disney+ miniseries will have to do directly with the upcoming Armor Wars movie. So it seems that no one is yet clear on how Secret Invasion will connect to the MCU, or if instead the director is right and it will be completely independent.
On top of all this, even Nick Fury himself (Samuel L. Jackson) has said that the events of Secret Invasion need to happen for The Marvels to make sense. So, right now we have three options on the table: standalone story, it will have an Armor Wars connection, or it will directly connect with The Marvels. We will be very attentive to bring you the news that they offer us in the coming days.
