The Arcane's second season will be the last, as announced with the first official trailer for the series. This confirmation left many people upset, since given the level of the first season, and the large number of stories that can be drawn from the League of Legends universe, they did not fully understand why the series would end after only two seasons.
In fact, the popularity of Riot Games' MOBA skyrocketed again after the premiere of the first season, and something similar is expected to happen once the sequel is released next November. However, in a recent interview with the BBC, the showrunner and co-creator of the series, Christian Linke, has spoken about the reason which is why the second season of Arcane will be the last.
The co-creator of the series explains why the second season of Arcane will be the last
«This was the ending we wanted. When we started Arcane we had already seen many television series that didn't know when to stop. We didn't want to be one of them. We wanted to tell a very specific story and we had an ending in mind that was very tailored to it. That's all (…) Maybe we would do things differently if we started over. However, this is how we start. “We had to follow our instinct and tell the story this way.”
It seems that, according to Linke's words, the idea that the series would have only two seasons It was something that was on the table all the time.. In fact, as we can read in Linke's statements, they did not want to become that type of series that ends up losing the touch that differentiates them so much by artificially lengthening them.

Now we only have wait until next November to know what they wanted to tell us in this second and last season. What remains to be seen is whether Riot Games will try to make a new series related to the League of Legends universe.
