Next July, Deadpool and Wolverine, the new Mercenary with a Mouth movie, will finally hit the big screen, in which he will make his way with Logan through different multiverses with sword blows and lots of cakes. Although everything indicates that it will be one of Marvel's biggest hits in recent years, it seems that Wade Wilson would have had a very different destiny if it had not been for Hugh Jackman.
During an interview with the American media Vanity Fair, Ryan Reynolds revealed that Hugh Jackman called him to team up in the next Deadpool movie just before he himself called Kevin Feige to tell him that he planned to take a several-year break from the character. Throughout all that time, they considered giving the character a break so they could think about how to fit him into the MCU.
“On the call with Kevin Feige, we got right to the point. We said, 'Look, this call just came in. I think we'd be idiots to ignore this gift. This is a one in a billion opportunity. I really feel like this is where we've been. searching'”.
Jackman, for his part, had said several weeks ago that the decision to become Wolverine once again, after Logan, arose just at the beginning of a vacation, when during a moment of lucidity he dreamed of making a joint film between the superhero of Ryan Reynolds and the Adamantium Claw Mutant.
This call was decisive for the future of the franchise, since everything indicates that this film will be an important turning point for the studio, both commercially and plot-wise. Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theaters around the world on July 25, 2024.
