With the enormous success of several video game adaptations in recent months, it is to be expected that in the not too distant future we will see more highly popular titles hit the small or big screen. God of War and The Legend of Zelda are some of the most popular, but it seems that a heavyweight could join: Elden Ring.
In an interview with the American media The Guardian, the director of the work, Hidetaka Miyazaki, revealed that there is interest in taking the story of Elden Ring to other media, with a film being the most likely option and the one they view favorably. Of course, they will look for a production company that is up to the task.
“I see no reason to reject another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, a movie, for example. But I don't think I, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. This is where a very strong partner would come into action. We would have to build a lot of trust and agreements on whatever we were trying to achieve, but there is interest, for sure.”
While Miyazaki is willing to share the rights to his work, he also wants this adaptation to live up to it. Therefore, if it happens, it will be with a production company willing to put in the effort to create a film as ambitious as FromSoftware's masterpiece.
There are many stories or narrative arcs that could be used to make a movie. Elden Ring. From the battle between Radahn and Malenia to the story of our Sinluz itself, a lot of juice could be extracted from this adaptation, which would undoubtedly become one of the most anticipated by fans of the genre.
