Unfortunately it is very likely that we will never see Days Gone 2
Days Gone is clearly one of the great PS4 exclusives, in addition to being considered one of the best zombie games, but at the time it was not seen that way. Thanks to the numerous problems it presented at launch, critics did not treat this title particularly well, and many players did not view this launch favorably either, despite the fact that today it is even a cult work. This led to its sequel being later cancelled, and the director of the original work, John Garvin, having dedicated a lot of time to criticizing not only the people who reviled his video gamebut also to the managers who decided to cancel its continuation.
Now, this same developer has used his official X/Twitter account to confirm that Days Gone 2 existed at one timewhich is to say that it was cancelled after work had already begun on it. “I worked on the sequel for weeks, I have a script, outline, map, concept art,” confirms the director of the original installment.
It should be noted that as John Garvin tells it, we know that They were in pre-production, part of the development process in which the ground begins to be prepared to work on the title in question. Therefore, We can point out that Days Gone 2 did not exist as such.since it probably never existed as such, but there was previous work for it, and therefore there was a lot prepared for this title.
TBH I wasn't there when DG2 got shot down… I worked in the sequel for weeks, I have a script, outline, map, concept art. After I was let go, I know @JakeRocket worked on a different pitch with a different writer / creative director … so tour have to ask him https://t.co/hNpTj4JuYT

Days Gone came to us from BEND Studioowned by Sony, although we still do not know what this studio can offer us in the future.
A franchise that did not take off
Days Gone sought to replicate the success of Horizon Zero Dawn, the title that ended up translating into a complete franchise, which is also of great importance for Sony at the moment, but in the end it could not reach that place. Maybe in the future the board will change and we will see a sequel, but right now we can say that It is practically impossible for us to see a Days Gone 2.
Even so, we are still waiting to find out What the studio can offer us soon that Days Gone itself offered us.
