The origin story of the reimagined hero concludes
The first arc of Ultimate Spider-Man has put a new spin on the Spider-Man mythos. To remind you, it all started when a young Tony Stark of the Ultimates sent a pico-tech suit to Peter Parker and the radioactive spider that was supposed to have bitten him 20 years ago. Peter's daughter May inspired his iconic red and blue suit, making it “less scary and cooler” and allied herself with Harry Osborn, operating as the masked vigilante the Green Goblin.
Now, in Ultimate Spider-Man #6, spider man still unnamed and the Green Goblin find themselves working against Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime, to expose the secrets behind the Maker's Council. While Harry has officially adopted the press-bestowed moniker of the Green Goblin, Peter does not yet have a codename.
The enhanced Kingpin pummels the red-and-blue-clad superhero, leaving him battered and bruised. Peter confides in his wife, Mary Jane, and son, Richard, what May already knows: Dad is a crime fighter in disguise. “This has to be a family secret,” says Parker, since only Tony and Harry know it.
“What am I supposed to call you when you're in a suit?” asks Peter's wife, who answers himself by putting his hand on the spider emblem on his chest: “It is not obvious? You are Spider-Man“, which closes the character's origin story.
Peter Parker finally confides in Mary Jane his biggest secret
