Cyberpunk 2077 was released in 2020
CD Projekt RED launched Cyberpunk 2077 at the end of 2020 in the worst possible way, since the video game from the Polish studio starred in one of the biggest controversies in memory and with which its creators have taken years to redeem themselves, reaching the middle of 2024 being able to stick their chests out and say that the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is finished and now the focus is on The Witcher 4.
Now, it must be said that another of the pillars that they have in development within CD Projekt RED is the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077which would have already begun its development when an important detail about its approach was revealed. Now, we have been able to learn that the idea with this sequel is to make a much more American gamewhich is why its development will not be carried out by Polish workers.
The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 aims to show a future more in line with today
In the recent episode of the studio's AnswerRED podcast, Pawel Sasko, associate director of this sequel and the original title, noted that Cyberpunk 2077 was very limited in its social contextwhich they have collected in IGN under the fact that they did not manage to narrate or relate some aspects such as the homeless crisis because they did not have that vision in Poland, pointing out that they stayed on the surface.
In this way, the idea with the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is show a dystopian future and that can be identified more with the current state of megacorporations, the exploitation of resources, the gap between wealth and poverty, among other aspects of society.
It should be noted that it remains to be seen when we hear anything about Cyberpunk 2077 again, since last year it was learned that its sequel was in conceptual design phasewhich means that the video game may still have at least five years to go before it reaches stores around the world. Under this idea, it is quite likely that goes on the market on PS5 and Xbox Series successor consolesalthough only time will tell if this ends up being fulfilled.
