This had to happen. A week ago I left my witcher armor and swords in Kaer Morhen (The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt) to embark on another adventure just as magical and full of monsters: Hogwarts Legacy. And he’s almost managed to separate me from my enchantress in Destiny 2!
I am excited to tell you how they have been my first 20 hours at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You will think: “Well, like all of them. You have learned a lot of magic, advanced in the main story and such“Well, you’re wrong! I’m the worst student Hogwarts has ever seen because I spend all day sneaking out after hours and not attending classes to explore.
The good part about being a horrible student is that this post NO SPOILERS from the main story of Hogwarts Legacy, so you can read and watch without worry. I’m going to tell you some anecdotes about my adventures around the castle and outside, and maybe a secondary mission. Nothing that is going to annoy you the experience.
Discovering the magical world of Hogwarts Legacy
My inability to focus on one thing for more than 10 seconds has made me the worst student at Hogwarts. After arriving at school, selecting my house (Slytherin) and passing the first tutorials, Hogwarts Legacy He lets me roam free. I manage to keep attention until I visit hogsmeade and I learn the Fire spell.
A group of yellow plants that make trumpet sounds is enough to distract me and make me deselect all missions. I open the map, I look at it and my mind recreates the scene of Frodo in The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey:”I’m going on an adventure!” Who wants a broom to get around faster? I haven’t unlocked it yet, so I walk everywhere.
I am on the outer wall of Hogwarts, northwest of the castle. I decide that the most foolish thing to do is to go north, to the Forbidden Forest. It is not the most recommended place to go as soon as you start, since it is dark, it is full of spiders, poachers and other fearsome enemies; Although you are going to learn to fight by tricks and you will level up throwing hosts
I walk for hours. There are some very pretty areas with green and yellow fireflies, although most of the forest is full of spiders and poaching camps. Finally, I reach the northeast area of the map, which turns into a quagmire.
I decide to go to one lonely house to explore and activate fast travel. A very upset lady asks me for a potion thunderbrew. I apologize and tell him that I don’t have, although my real reaction is: “thunder what? Madam, I haven’t even been at school for two days! I don’t even know how to do Alohomora“. By the way, sailor telita with the bloody Alohomora…
I decide to abandon the upset lady and continue hanging around. I find many things that I don’t know what they are for, I can’t solve most of the puzzles because I lack magic and I can’t open NOT A DOOR ON THE WHOLE MAP because it looks like in the world of Hogwarts Legacy padlocks are made without bloody keys so that you can open them with Alohomorra… BUT I DON’T KNOW ALOHOMORA BECAUSE I DON’T GO TO CLASS! I get indignant and go back to the castle.
Can someone teach me Alohomora please?
Let’s take a little leap in my adventure. I spend another few hours walking around Hogwarts castle, discovering secrets here and there, and of course finding seven hundred doors that I can’t open because no one wants to teach me Alohomora… not even Level 1. I decide togo a bit in historyjust enough to unlock broomstick flight and get my first flying broomstick.
I give up. Nobody wants to teach me Alohomora, so I grab my broom and go exploring all the southern area of the map. But still, stop! As a good young man who has just gotten his driver’s license, I receive an errand that involves using my new transport.
The dependent of the Hogsmeade potions shop He needs me to act as a carrier: he wants me to deliver a box of invisibility potions to a lady in a southern village. He is willing to pay me as long as I don’t cross a word with her. Who am I to turn down some galleons for doing what I had planned?
I sail the skies with my broom while I observe the incredible landscapes of the Hogwarts region. The night is upon me, but I’m in no hurry. From the sky you can see the lights of the fireflies, the lampposts marking the way and small groups of light that indicate the villages.
I arrive at the village and speak with the lady, who is still in her shop despite the fact that it is dark. Sure she is autonomous, there is no other explanation. I need two seconds of conversation to understand why the owner of the potion shop doesn’t want to talk to her: both take kill. She says that she is a con man and he says that she is a liar.
like a good Andalusian I love gossip. I get fully involved in the conflict: I propose that they resolve their conflicts and that they pool knowledge, but both throw their hands up and refuse. I’ve seen enough soap operas to know that these two end up in bed, for sure. I explore the village a bit, grab my broom and return to the potions shop to claim my reward. I would not hate an expansion based on the distribution of products between villages.
The rest of the hours spent exploring have the same theme: beautiful landscapes, challenging combat, inaccessible puzzles, and locked doors. If you want my advice: don’t follow my example. I recommend you go to class, progress through the main story, and start exploring when someone teaches you the damn Alohomora spell. Hopefully, I will have learned it by the time you are reading this post. Or not.
