Just a few hours ago we knew that The Lord of the rings will feature new films in the future produced by Warner Bros. It is not surprising that one of the biggest and most successful franchises of all time continues to expand, but there is a question that flutters in the air: is there room for so many products of the franchise? Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, thinks so. And now we have known that Amazon is confident in the success of The Rings of Power despite the new Lord of the Rings moviesas Salke explained in a recent talk given to the portal Variety.
“We’ll see (if there’s room for the series and the movies on the market). We love our original series. we are extremely proud of it and invest in it for the long term. We definitely believe there is enough love from the fans to sustain ours for a long time,” Salke said. As IGN recalls, Salke said in 2021 that The Rings of Power would need massive support to make up for the losses. 465 million dollars of investment in its first season, something that seems to have been achieved considering that Amazon has given the green light to the second installment and that the plans for five seasons do not seem to have changed despite the irregular reception of the series last year.
Along these same lines, and after Amazon’s multimillion-dollar acquisition of MGM for a price of 8.45 billion dollars, executives Michael de Luca and Pamela Abdy left the company and signed with Warner Bros. Pictures, where they have been planning a return to Tolkien’s universe with new movies ever since. With Embracer Group also producing multiple Lord of the Rings video games, it looks like the license is headed for a new golden age in terms of amount of content. The final quality of each of them will have to be seen.
