The Polish studio Bloober Team regularly brags that, in cooperation with Konami, it has maintained fidelity to the original Silent Hill 2 from 2001. At the same time, it will offer a modern visual and technical aspect, as well as an expansion of the story. As part of the marketing campaign, today we can look at the comparison of the remake with the original game.
The nearly fifteen-minute video from a new episode of PlayStation Underground compares two important events in the game. For that reason contains spoilers. We first see the meeting between the main character James and Laura at Brookhaven Hospital. The dialogue is largely unchanged. Laura's famous fartface is also present. Of course we see better motion capture.
The second part of the video devotes to the fight with the boss Flesh Lips. Here the changes are more visible. In the remake, James is attacked by only one enemy instead of two in 2001. The monster has the same design, but there is a slight deviation in how the player is supposed to proceed in the fight. The player must get him from the shaft in the ceiling to the ground and then break his cage. It also seems that fights feel less wooden.
Silent Hill 2 will be released on October 8th for PlayStation 5 and PC. Owners of the more expensive edition will play 48 hours earlier. The review embargo is until October 4.
