If you are among the owners of the first version of the headset Meta Quest and you play Beat Saber, then I don't have good news for you. Czech studio Beat Games announced its intention to end support for its rhythmic hit.
Beat Saber support for Meta Quest 1 will end on 11/2/2024. Fortunately, after that date it will be possible to continue playing the game, but won't have multiplayer and won't get any updates. In the future, the leaderboard will be removed and customer support will not be available, we will read in the FAQ.
The reason for this decision is the possibility to focus more on other, newer versions. So it is recommended to upgrade to a newer virtual reality headset. The developers also remind that the base game and all purchased additional packages are tied to player accountsso the transition between Meta Quest and Rift platforms should be seamless.
Beat Saber was originally released in 2019 for PC (Steam VR and Oculus VR) and later expanded to PlayStation VR and PlayStation VR2. Judging by the mood on social media, a lot of fans continue to play Meta Quest 1.
