Bethesda has announced in the last few hours that it has released a new patch for Starfield, with the aim of trying to solve one of the game's major problems. Specifically, the content has focused almost exclusively on Starfield Creations, the game's official mod platform, which had been creating a series of problems that affected the experience. Don't worry though, Starfield mods on Xbox still work perfectly.
The patch notes have been shared by Bethesda via their official X account, where they have detailed the new features we can expect with the latest version of Starfield. As you can see below, the list of bugs fixed is really smallbut it serves to improve the experience, especially due to the incompatibility that some Starfield mods on Xbox Series X|S were causing.
Starfield mods on Xbox Series X|S no longer cause issues when loading a save
Some users had reported Problems trying to load games which had mods that had been previously removed. However, with this new patch, the company has fixed this problem, and there will no longer be any inconvenience to continue playing even if we no longer have the content we downloaded from Starfield Creations. The complete list of fixes is as follows:
- Fixed an issue that could cause an unresponsive state when loading a save with deleted creations.
- Fixed an issue with opening Microsoft Store after using Quick Resume
- Improved credit purchasing flow when using Steam Store
- Fixed a cosmetic issue with the Crafting Shop buttons while using large font mode
- (Creation Kit) Fixed an issue with applying keywords to newly created folders.
The only bad thing is that Bethesda has confirmed that the news is also accompanied by a limitation. The company has assured that We will no longer be able to load mods that modify the game's “.ini” fileas they were causing several negative effects.
With today's #Starfield CK update, we're also removing the ability to upload creations with altered ini files, as some altered ini files are resulting in more negative effects than the benefits of allowing this functionality, such as audio corruption on the Xbox. Removing this functionality will bring creations into line with how they function in Skyrim. We're investigating ways to address active Starfield creations from creators altering ini files. We thank you all for your patience and continued feedback.
So for now, existing creations will remain available, but it wouldn't be surprising if they were modified or removed over time. We hope that Bethesda manages to find a solution to this type of problem, so that we can once again enjoy all types of Starfield mods on Xbox Series X|S.
