We continue at Bitwares exploring some of the indie video games coming out this May with Nine Sols from the Taiwanese studio Red Candle Games.
Red Candle Games is a studio formed by six people in 2015. Their first video game was Detention; a 2D horror title for PC with a lot of influence from Taiwanese/Chinese culture. They then released another horror title known as Devotion (which can be purchased on the studio's official site).
Taking advantage of the fact that it is student day, at bitwares.net we remember five video games that had schools as the fundamental basis of their stories. Do you remember some others?
With Nine Suns They have targeted another genre entirely. A cross between Sekiro and several modern metroidvania. The game is hand drawn in 2D, both its characters and its settings. And it has cinematics that refer to manga-style sequences.
In the game Nine Suns, players take on the role of a boy named Ye-Sheng, who must venture into the world of nine suns to save his mother from a deadly curse. To achieve this, Ye-Sheng must master the art of survival and fighting with the help of special abilities and unique allies that he encounters on his journey.
The study defines Nine Suns as a “Taopunk” mixing elements of Taoism with science fiction references to cyberpunk within Chinese fantasy and mythology.
Nine Suns comes to Steam on May 29.
