On State of Play the previously announced multiplayer first-person shooter has been revealed in detail Concord. News from the former authors of Call of Duty from the Firewalk studio, Sony dedicated a significant part of the space, specifically brought a movie trailer and the first gameplay sample. It can thus be concluded that Concord is betting a lot. But the players do not share the enthusiasm of the Japanese company and another live service title is widely criticized.
If we look at the comments, there is one thing that bothers the players the most. According to initial impressions, Concord does not bring much new. It looks like another five-on-five multiplayer shooter Overwatch from Blizzard, only this time with visuals reminiscent of Guardians of the Galaxy. Others complained about the live service. They'd rather see Concord as a single-player story game. Others note similarities to Bungie's Destiny, which also ranks in the PlayStation stable.
From the point of view of the thumbs, it says it all. More than 12,000 people gave the gameplay demo a thumbs down, while less than 3,000 upvoted it. The movie trailer received 77% negative thumbs up. That Astro Bot has 99% positive likes.
Only time will tell if Concord can succeed. Some don't think so, at least not now that it's worth the money. The developers and Sony apparently believe in the project and they are preparing a lot of additional content. At launch, the game will have 16 characters consisting of the Northstar crew and free agents. Additional playable characters, maps and modes will arrive in free updates. Updates should be released regularly.
Concord will be released on 8/23/2024 on PlayStation 5 and PC.
