New rumors bet on the imminent return of two classic Konami franchises.
It has been rumored for some time now that Konami would have it underway the return of metal gear solid through new installments in the series, including a supposed remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 and Bluepoint Games’ remake of the original Metal Gear Solid. At the moment, neither of the two projects has materialized, but the latest rumors speak that the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 could be presented during the next E3 2023or around the dates on which this event will take place.
After a long period of silence, last year Konami showed its Future plans for the Silent Hill series, which will include the remake of Silent Hill 2, among other titles. We’ll see what he plans to do with Metal Gear Solid, a series that since the departure of Hideo Kojima It has not had new deliveries, apart from the failed Metal Gear Survive.
Operation Snake Eater is back
According to Andy Robinson, one of the managers of the VGC medium, Konami hopes to have a “big E3”since the Japanese company, as had been rumored, finally plans to reveal the return of both Castlevania and The Metal Gear Solid. “There’s a new Castlevania in addition to the Dead Cells DLC that they announced at The Game Awards,” Robinson explained on the VGC podcast (via Gamespot). “And there’s this Metal Gear Solid 3 remake which has been discussed so much, which I also hope they will finally show”.
At the moment it is not known who would be in charge of these games, but according to Robinson, Konami would be “open to collaborate with more developers“This means that some of these games, or some other of these or other Konami series, could also be in charge of western teams. This is the case of the remake of Silent Hill 2, which is being developed by the Polish studio Bloober Teamor Silent Hill: Townfall, by No Code.
For now, we just have to wait and see if the Japanese company will formally attend E3 2023 or if these announcements will take place in that date frame but in isolation at any other event, whether individual or on a specific platform. We think of the events that Xbox and PlayStation usually do for these dates. In the last hours, Ubisoft has also abandoned the ship of the new E3 2023, so the return of the Los Angeles fair is running out of big names as June approaches.
