Owners of old Battlefield games on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 should slowly but surely prepare to say goodbye to their games. Electronic Arts plans to remove the games from digital stores soon and in November disable online servers.
On 7/31 of this year, parts will disappear from digital stores Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. The online servers will be shut down later, specifically on 7/11 multiplayer will stop working. Single player campaigns will continue to be playable.
Good news at the end. On the newer generation of consoles, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield: Hardline will continue to be unchanged. EA's decision is in line with the natural migration of players to more modern hardware. Although we don't know the numbers, it can be assumed that such a percentage of people no longer play on PS3 and Xbox 360.
From the comments on the Internet, we conclude one thing. Players especially regret the end of Battlefield 3. This title from 2011 had, according to many, the best battlefield of all previous installments. They highlight the Metro map in particular. But this part is not on PS4, only on Xbox One thanks to backward compatibility.
