A little over two years have passed since the release of Cyberpunk 2077. The initial result was not remotely close to what CD Project Red promised us for many years. While the updates and the next-gen version for consoles have improved many things, it is still far from the revolutionary wonder we hoped for.
It is possible to have fun and enjoy cyberpunk 2077 in 2023, but as soon as you take a look at the trailers and let your imagination run wild, you begin to see many things in which CD Project Red He could go deeper and he didn’t. In this context, here are eight things that I would like to have in the game that (probably) will never arrive.
Night City Subway and Monorail
The subway and the monorail Night City It is something that many fans took for granted when we saw the trailers and gameplays of cyberpunk 2077. There were even official images! I don’t mean a Marvel’s Spider-Man style fast travel subway, but a functional subway. A metro and rail network over the city that would allow us to travel in real time and that was sometimes more recommendable than cars.
This addition would have been awesome for those of us trying to play without stealing cars or just enjoying roaming the streets of Night City. It would have added underground areas to explore and even take advantage of with side missions. And if you think I’m asking too much, there is a mod called Metro System that adds something very similar, if not identical.
- Recently, the Global Community Director by CD Project Red has commented that they have no plans to introduce the metro in cyberpunk 2077.
Cars in Cyberpunk 2077: garages, tuning, insurance and more
The cars and motorcycles they are a sign of identity for both NPCs and players. Each class (Corpo, Nomad and Street Kid) has its own aesthetic and its vehicles, and even the factions within each class. differ with different models. Not to mention that they are our only method of displacement. It goes without saying that vehicles are indispensable elements.
Knowing all this, many players dream of having garages for storage and display all our vehicles, and it seems so at the beginning of the game. The reality is that our cars are not stored anywhere, they simply appear when we call them. This is just the tip of the knife that cut through our dreams.
CD Projekt Red said that Cyberpunk 2077 would have careers, but it was a half-truth: we now know that they are limited by a quest thread. We also know that we can buy a large number of cars. He tuning or customization It would have been the dream come true for many players. Something GTA Online style: a workshop with improvements and aesthetic elements to give personality to our cars.
Garages, races and tuning would have made more sense to buy vehicles in cyberpunk 2077. And it would have made more sense to care for them with Damage that won’t fix itselfworkshops to make repairs and a sure to pay every time our vehicle was destroyed. Again, nothing revolutionary: GTA V did it a decade ago and it’s still some of the freshest content out there. gta online.
Customization and utility of houses
The updates of cyberpunk 2077 they added personality and some details to the houses that we can buy, but in practice they are an expense that does not make sense. The houses have no real practical use… not beyond going when the missions demand it of you.
The house customization would be another great addition. I don’t mean customization like in Fallout 76, but something more like what Hogwarts Legacy’s Room of Requirement offers. The latter allows us to choose between several predefined styles, the lighting of the rooms and add useful objects. In the case of cyberpunk 2077 could be considered as the extensions in the houses and businesses of gta online.
The house extension system could include a gun rack where to display weaponsa wardrobe with mannequins to expose clothes, furniture and exhibitors to store objects, more places for vehicles and even the possibility of having a pet and/or having your romantic interest move in with you. All this would make sense to save to buy a house, add improvements and personalize it.
Purchase and business management
And when you ask for the customizable and useful houses, why not buy business to improve, extend and personalize them? The possibilities are many: bars, car workshops, clinics, taxi agency, hotels, brothels… As you improve the place and carry out certain specific orders, the place grants money and/or passive advantages.
Businesses would not only add another layer to the properties section, but would add playable content with missions (with unique and thematic rewards) and another way to obtain money… although only after having worked hard to set up your business empire.
Specific roles
We keep connecting things! Businesses could introduce a role system similar to what is seen in Red Dead Online. Three very simple examples to understand this: buy taxi driver, carrier and/or police licenses to carry out specific special orders. These missions would add many hours of gameplay and another layer of personality for our character.
The motivations of these missions would range from get levels and money until business improvements. Obviously, each mission would feature unique and role-themed rewards. And if we want to curl the loop more, having certain roles could grant you more or less easy access to certain sites. For example, the police license during investigations.
cyberpsychosis
cyberpunk 2077 It features side quests for cyberpsychosis, but it took the Edgerunners series to show us what exactly it is. So I wondered: why doesn’t this mechanic exist in the game? And I say more, why isn’t there toxicity in the game in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt?
Without going into spoilers, the cyberpsychosis This is what happens when a person adds more physical and digital modifications to their body than they can bear, especially cutting-edge systems or prototypes. our character in cyberpunk 2077 He suffers from something similar, but not exactly the same.
In Cyberpunk 2077 no penalty for adding enhancements to your body. There are no caps and the only drawback is the cooldown times on the abilities, which are ridiculous. In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt there is toxicity when abusing potions, why in Cyberpunk 2077 there are no long-term negative effects when you use too much technology?
One way to measure this would be to add a stack or bar icon to the mods menu. By exceeding a certain limit of improvements, you would start to have certain negative and progressive effects. The final penalty could be to fall to the ground, die, and appear in a clinic without any mods. And I would add no skill points, but maybe I sneak in hardcore.
I said it with the Unforgivable Curses of Hogwarts Legacy and I repeat it with the modifications of cyberpunk 2077: Power has a price. If we are playing an RPG, we play it with the consequences that all our actions imply, not just those that are convenient for us to be comfortable with.
Cyberpunk 2077 in third person
I’m not particularly a fan of this option, but I’ve talked to enough people and read enough Reddit to know that this request is more common than you might imagine. This point has no mystery or much to explain: being able to play cyberpunk 2077 both in first and third person (as in Skyrim or Fallout). And even though I’m not a fan, I wouldn’t mind trying it.
There are some mods that allow you to play cyberpunk 2077 in third person, but in general they are not very pleasing to the eye due to the animations. The game was not designed to be played like this… and it shows.
Cooperative Multiplayer
The content closest to reality that you will see in this list. CD Project Red had planned to introduce a multiplayer in cyberpunk 2077. How was it going to be? Only they know. For my part, cooperative multiplayer similar to what was seen in Far Cry 5 (join a friend’s session to do missions and explore) would be more than enough for me…
Many people expected something to live up to. gta online. I don’t think it would have been close or just what its developers promised. The Rockstar Games milestone is about levels of sheer insanity. In a good way! Although with a bit of bad sense, the flying bikes were a very ugly turning point.
cyberpunk 2077 It is expandable in many ways. To all this content you can add new missions, weapons, cars, clothes, relationships with characters, abilities, improvements, etc. As far as we know, Phantom Liberty was advertised by the company as the Biggest DLC they’ve ever done Until now. Will you include some of the things I ask for on this list? I doubt it, but it would be so wonderful…
