During The Game Awards 2022 we were able to enjoy the first trailer for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, which initially had a release date marked on the calendar for March 17, but for various reasons and with the clear objective of enjoying a sequel like God sends (without any type of bugs) Respawn Entertainment decided to delay the release of the game for this same April 28, 2023.
Respawn Entertainment is going to provide us with an adventure like no other, by the hand of Cal Kestis and his faithful companion BD-1. So now, while we wait for its release on the market, which is about to drop, for the most interesting we bring you from the SomosXbox newsroom, a very interesting article about everything we know about Star Wars Jedi Survivorone of the most anticipated games of this 2023.
Everything we know about Star Wars Jedi Survivor
History
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is a direct sequel to the first installment, Fallen Order. Jedi Survivor will continue the story of Cal Kestis, 5 years after what happened in the first installment. At the present moment, the dark times are in full swing, and Cal, who is an unconventional Jedi, will have to do unconventional things, hand in hand with BD-1, who, even though he is a robot, is like a brother to him. our protagonist, since they have generated a very special bond from the first game.
5 Details From The Star Wars Jedi Survivor Story Trailer You Might Have Missed

Throughout this exciting story, we will meet some of the most interesting characters, such as Bode Akunan, a new character who will play an important role as a friend who will help us both in combat and along the way, who obviously will not be a path of roses, since we will meet new antagonists such as the mysterious imperial senator Pau’an and the gangster Rayvis, who believe that the Jedi should be exterminated from the universe.
On the other hand, we will see familiar faces like the “Sister of the Night” Merrin, who will once again accompany Cal, being more important in the story and demonstrating great power skills, which will help us a lot in combat. Without obviously going into spoilers, thanks to the novel Star Wars Jedi Battle Scars, we know that for some reason the crew of the Mantis got separated and Cal continued his fight, so for these things and more, the story of Jedi Survivor hopefully far exceeds that of Jedi Fallen Order.
Combat
As we have mentioned before, having passed 5 years between the first and second installments, Respawn Entertainment wanted players to feel the passage of time, making us understand that Cal has gone through many dangers during that period. So, as Cal has transitioned from being a Padawan to becoming a Jedi Knight, he will now be more powerful, agile, and make more intelligent use of the Force. Cal has also improved when it comes to moving around the environments, thus having a new ability to ride creatures.
But this is not all, since it has been confirmed that Star Wars Jedi Survivor will allow us to maintain the skills learned in Star Wars Jedi Fallen Ordersomething that is practically not seen in any sequel, which somehow makes excuses for you to start from scratch.
We knew we wanted his abilities to continue in Star Wars Jedi Survivor, and that was one of the challenges. We had to adjust the enemies to handle their powers early on and we didn’t want to remove those moves because they felt really good. Besides, we couldn’t go back and return Cal to his Padawan status.
When it comes to fighting, we will also enjoy the new “IA Companion” gameplay, where Cal will have companions throughout his adventure, teaming up with characters like Bode or Merrin, and chaining combos that include attacks with lightsabers and abilities melee combat, which will open up all sorts of possibilities during in-game combat.
In hand-to-hand combat with various opponents, including droids, monsters, and stormtroopers, we will enjoy brutal moments that we did not see in the first installment, where we will see how Cal Kestis cuts the limbs of enemies with a lightsaber, but without details explicit or bloodshed. Although, in addition to the new abilities of the force, the 5 realistic combat styles will give us more possibilities when it comes to finishing off our enemies and will make this trip an unforgettable experience.
World
With Jedi Survivor, Respawn has expanded the definition of a “hub world”. In the first installment we moved through planets, with a central point that was the Mantis starship. But now everything will go further, since we will visit more planets with much more freedom of movement. I give you the example of the town called Rambler’s Ranch, located on the planet Koboh. Despite having to carry the weight as one of the last surviving Jedi, Cal will take it upon himself to help the locals by improving their city little by little, something very interesting.
Now in the different cities or towns of the planets, we will be able to accept secondary missions, since the world will be semi-open. There will be at least 7 big planets in the game, being the planet Koboh as a hub world, with shops, NPC’s and side quests. We will also be able to recruit NPCs, which, among other things, will unlock new shops, like with the settlement in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The planet Koboh will have a fairly large area to explore, with bosses, collectibles, and much more. Also, these planets could be compared to the realms of God of War Ragnarök.
we also know that Star Wars Jedi Survivor will have puzzles similar to the shrines of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For the most part, visiting these meditation sanctuaries will be optional, although we will also see them throughout the game’s main story. This is a good way to encourage exploration, since by completing the sanctuaries, we will receive great rewards.
Personalization
Another of the great novelties of Star Wars Jedi Survivor will be customization. We will have a customization menu that will allow us to change Cal’s jacket, shirt and pants, in addition to his hairstyle and his beard, thus being able to give him different styles according to our taste. Obviously, we can also continue customizing our lightsaber, the color of our great friend BD-1 and the Mantis ship.
