The controversy has returned to splash an official championship of the Pokémon video games, one of the most popular competitions in the world. On this occasion, a Pokémon Scarlet and Purple tournament was being held in South Korea in which recently four professional players have been disqualified.
All of them had disputed numerous previous combats and they had to fight one more that was going to determine what was going to be the position that each one was going to occupy in the final confrontations that would determine who was going to be the winner. It was at that moment that a tremendous mess arose that ended with the expulsion of these players.
The reason was due to the fact that they all used equipment in which all his Pokémon had a single movement: Metronome. They had not learned any more, only this one that is considered one of the craziest attacks in the entire saga and that has been present since the first generation.
For those who don’t know it, Metronome is a completely random and very risky movement, because the move can go very well or very badly. The reason is because when executed it will randomly perform any movement that exists in the franchise, be it Splash, Tackle, Grunt or something more powerful like Solar Beam, Hyper Beam, Hydro Bomb, etc.
All of them chose to form these teams as a symbol of protest, as Nash, one of those involved, has well explained. His accusation dates back to 2019, the last time a tournament was held in person, since since then there have been a serious miscommunication between The Pokémon Company and the Korean gaming community about how online events have been organized.
For all this, Nash and the rest have complained that there has been a lack of face-to-face tournaments when they were taking place in the rest of the countries, while those that have been held online have presented problems and the format chosen for them has not been well received by the community.
That’s when they became clear that using Metronome was the best way to complain about this situation. However, The Pokémon Company seems to have not liked this attitude at allHence, they all received an email informing them that they had been disqualified because, according to Nash himself, the company did not like their equipment and that is why they were expelled.
