The Japanese creative reveals new details of Metal Gear Solid V in the latest episode of his podcast.
Hideo Kojima did not get to see the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Within Konami, the Japanese creative and the company had a serious disagreement after learning about the secret production of PT, the famous playable teaser of what would be a new Silent Hill game with the participation of Guillermo del Toro and Norman Reedus. The game finally went on sale, not without criticism for its structure, but in playable matterKojima had once again signed a masterpiece of that genre that he himself baptized as Tactical Espionage Action. We now know that even I had more ideas for this fifth and final numbered installment of the Metal Gear Solid series to date.
The truth is that Metal Gear Solid V has a most bizarre story. First it is advertised as if it were another game by a new study by an alter ego of Hideo Kojima (hence why many people thought the same of Abandoned), the cake is uncovered in the middle of a press conference and Kojima appears under a bunch of bandagesthe prologue of the game (Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes) arrives as a standalone product before the main game, and eventually the departure of the Japanese creative from Konami before the game even hits stores.
A well-known character was going to return in Metal Gear Solid V
During the last episode of his podcast (in English), Hideo Kojima assures that an early version of the script for Metal Gear Solid V had other plans for Chico, different from the ending of the character in the game that we all know. For those who don’t know who we’re talking about, Chico was a Metal Gear Solid spotlight: Peace Walker who later appeared in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, although he would have ultimately died in the sinking of Mother Base, as is later discovered.
According to the Japanese creative, the idea is that Chico would have appeared in Phantom Pain, although in a much changed way. Boy would I come back”obsessed with killing“, we can read through the Reddit forums, similar to Christopher Walken’s character in “The Deer hunter”. The reason the idea was scrapped from the final game, Kojima says, was because “did not fit well with the overall structure from Metal Gear Solid V”.
We are looking forward to seeing that vengeful version of Chico in Metal Gear Solid V, but we won’t have to wait long to try the Hideo Kojima’s next gamethe Japanese creative is already working on Death Stranding 2. In addition, he would have other projects in progressincluding that experimental game in the cloud in collaboration with Microsoft.
