There are only a few days left until the premiere on Disney+ of the new and enigmatic series set in the universe of Star Wars: The Acolyte. This new project in the franchise wants to surprise its audience with new characters and great fights, so intense that they caused a notable number of broken laser swords.
During an interview with the American media ComicBook, the actress Dafne Keen He admitted that, during the first day of filming the series, he broke up to five lightsabers. His concern was such that he even thought Lucasfilm would reconsider his participation in the series due to the damage caused.
“Well, first of all, I broke at least five lightsabers on my first day, because I hit them too hard on the ground. For a moment I thought they were going to fire me. Plus, how much money did I just cost Disney?” Truly, there is no feeling of shame stronger than when a director looks at you with disappointment, and the looks of disappointment that I received from the directors looked at me and said: 'Dafne has broken another saber.'”
Luckily, this problem was quickly solved with a simple measure: instead of investing in more swords, they opted to create smaller lightsabers so that, during action scenes, Keen would not repeatedly hit the weapon against the ground.
Although the actress didn't feel entirely comfortable with this new tool, she was glad that her hit/broken sword ratio decreased considerably. This also suggests that the series will be action-packed, which is a good sign for fans. The Acolyte It will arrive exclusively on Disney+ on June 5, 2024.
