Summer is here and with it comes an intense storm season. And not only in the real world, but also in the virtual post-apocalyptic Appalachia, in which the multiplayer Fallout 76. The developers at Bethesda Game Studios have offered us plenty of valuable free updates over the years, but the latest Skyline Valley expansion gave us the impression that it was going to be something really special ahead of its release. It brings the first ever expansion of the Appalachia base map towards the south, where the territory of the former Shenandoah National Park became available. It is plagued by a large-scale and visually very impressive electrical storm. However, under the interesting red filter of extreme weather, not much awaits the player. At least for those who prefer to play alone and who don't have a particularly well equipped and leveled character.
Gelu was able to try out the expansion's content at a press event in London, while Cvrnda took to the new content like any normal mortal after the update's full release. In both cases, there were numerous walks around Skyline Valley itself, and there are more impressive and elaborate locations than meets the eye. You can visit, for example, a super mutant base on a high cliff, a visitor center with a beautiful view of the countryside, a scout camp full of commies or a majestic villa that hides the entrance to Vault 63. In addition, the effects of the electrical storm add a unique atmosphere and soundscape to the environment, while it is not a bad idea to have on memory that if you stand too long in one place, lightning can strike and injure you. So the environment itself is fine. Worse is what it contains.
