Last August, during the Opening Night Live celebration prior to the start of Gamescom, the German studio Deck13 announced Atlas Fallen, his new fantasy role-playing video game set in a mysterious desert location. Just a few hours ago, the game resurfaced confirming its release next May, but there were still some questions about the project. One of the most repeated is if is Atlas Fallen a soulslike. Now a developer of the title has responded to us on Twitter as a direct response to an intervention by a server. This is how he explains it David Blatta senior concept artist who has worked for seven years in the studio of the creators of The Surge and Lords of the Fallen.
“It plays more like an action RPG and less like a soulslike (It’s very different compared to The Surge 1 and 2)”, Blatt explained to us through the aforementioned social network, further clarifying what kind of game Atlas Fallen is and ratifying how Deck13 is trying something different with this new project. And it is that both the commented saga The Surge as Lords of the Fallen (which now has a sequel in development at the hands of another studio) followed the pattern pioneered and popularized by From Software, although now it seems that they will opt for something different.
The images and a few seconds of video that we have been able to see so far of Atlas Fallen indicate that, indeed, we are facing a open world action RPG with a great focus on combat and an intriguing and attractive world. Deck13 has promised that we will soon have full gameplay, so we will wait to finish clearing up doubts. In the meantime, remember that Atlas Fallen is coming next May 16 to Xbox Series X|S and other new generation platforms.
