It's getting closer and closer to the big screen when we finally get to enjoy Deadpool and Wolverine, a film starring Ryan Reynolds that will mark Shawn Levy's debut in the MCU. However, before his arrival at Marvel, Levy was close to signing with its “great rival”, DC Studios, to shoot a film that gave a lot to talk about.
In an interview with the American media Entertainment Weekly, the filmmaker revealed that he was in talks to direct The Flash, the DC Studios film starring Ezra Miller that has left no one indifferent. Although he has not given specific details about why he rejected this proposal, he did hint that he had disagreements with the script.
“Every week I'm offered a movie based on the IP, and as you might have noticed from the lack of ads, I almost always turn them down because I need to feel like I'm seeing a story worth telling.”
Although he didn't say it directly, Levy hinted that he thought the story they wanted to tell about Flash wasn't worth the effort. That's why he decided to turn down the project and accept one that really caught his attention from the first minute: Deadpool and Wolverinealongside one of his best colleagues, Ryan Reynolds.
Levy's journey through Marvel Studios seems to have only just begun. After this new installment of the Merc with a Mouth alongside Logan, the American filmmaker is the big favorite to become the new director of Avengers 5the next big MCU movie that is rumored to welcome more than 60 superheroes to the big screen.
