Kojima was fired from Konami in 2015
Today it is well known that Kojima's dismissal by Konami has been one of the great divorces of the video game industry, which has led to the fact that even almost a decade later it still resonates strongly. However, it cannot be said that the Japanese creative has done badly, since after his departure from Konami, founded his own studio in which he has released games like Death Stranding and in which he is currently working on three projects.
However, it seems that the same cannot be said for Konami, as the Japanese company has completely changed course in the direction of its IPs, which has led to them currently being in a kind of renaissance in which they intend to re-launch their great sagas like Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill, and the Solid Snake saga will soon see this return with Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta Snake Eater whose release date would have been leaked.
At Konami they dream of working again with the original Metal Gear Solid team
Now, it seems that Konami still yearns for that Kojima work with them againsince in a recent event focused on Metal Gear Solid it was the current producer of the series, Noriaki Okamura, who pointed out that It would be a dream to work with Kojima again and with the staff from the original development of this franchise.
All this arose because the creative was questioned about the possibility of go back to work with the original equipmentto which Okamura said that it was not his place to speak for their feelings, but for his own by saying that He would like nothing more than to work with Kojima again..
It remains to be seen whether we will see Kojima directing a Metal Gear again at some point in the future, as the creative gives a special touch to all his developments. However, in the absence of another project for this IP, we do know that Kojima Productions is making a PlayStation game about espionageso it looks like there will at least be a spiritual successor.
