Few sagas give us such a hit of nostalgia as Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, which translates into an urgent need for the community to enjoy a new installment. The series of Crystal Dynamics It has been 21 years since the last new project was released to fans, but the wait will finally come to an end.
And the developer has announced a collaboration with the Bit Bot Media brand to shape Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Risea graphic novel that will narrate the events leading up to the franchise. The plot will allow us to discover Raziel's human past as a Sarafan warrior, which will lead him to become a vampire in the service of Kain. In addition, it will also provide answers to various questions that have floated around the chronology during this time.
Joshua Viola and Angie Hodapp will serve as writers for the project, with Juan Samu providing the art for the comics. Covers will be provided by Dave Rapoza and Aaron Lovett, with additional art provided by Jonny Bush and Ninja Jo. Brent Friedman will also create a Narrative guide so that any reader does not get lost in a story that features time travel.
“In college, I created a Soul Reaver poster for a class project, never imagining that I would one day officially contribute to the franchise. Even today, Raziel adorns my tattoo sleeve, a testament to my deep connection to this universe. Fans can expect a project infused with that same passion. Working directly with Crystal Dynamics creatives and reuniting with longtime collaborators makes for a truly special endeavor.”
For now, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise has to pass the filter of obtaining funding through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. You can sign up on BackerKit to receive a notification of the launch, which is expected to happen at the end of 2024.
