I'm reaching my point zero on Mad Max. I always abandon the video game before crossing the Wasteland Pass or the Jaw. This is the door that opens access to the northern area of the map. Going directly to the story, it is no more than 3-4 hours of gameplay, but in my case it has been more than a week.
I already told you that this time I am having much more patience than on previous occasions, something that has allowed me to go where I had never gone before: almost completely explore the southern area of the map. I'm just ignoring the Death Races. I admit that it is not being easy and that I have completed some areas while I had a live show or movie playing in the background. But not everything is bad.
Mad Max convoys are the key
The open world of Mad Max It is repetitive to the point of exhaustion. There is and cannot be an argument that convinces me otherwise. However, I am unable to advance to the northern area without exploring and completing each area 100%. I know that it is a particularly convoluted way of torturing myself, but I assure you that it is something that I suffer and enjoy in equal measure.

I really enjoy going at full speed through the desert of Mad Max. I love its setting and exploring (not completing secondary objectives) is a very pleasant activity. Although I also tell you that the game gives very little room for discovery and surprise. Winks to Just Cause 4 and Half Life, and some curious and iconic areas such as the subway. Still, I really enjoy it.
Within my enjoyment, convoys are my favorite activity and the sweetest moment of the experience. I leave it until last in each area and try to savor every second of the 5-6 minutes maximum that groups of cars usually last. It's very simple: destroy the VIP car and (optional) its escort.

I have acquired a kind of ritual when it comes to facing them: I discover the route of the convoy, look for a high place next to the road and look for the curtain of dust with the binoculars. Very much in the style of Mad Max: Fury Road. I let them approach, press Play on YouTube to play “Brothers In Arms” (OST of Fury Road) and join the group of vehicles as they pass nearby, preferably destroying a car in the process.
For me, the convoys of Mad Max They are the classic high in video games during which you are completely focused. I genuinely enjoy the 5-6 minutes these road battles usually last. And the more tools they give me to fight, the more I enjoy it.

I got by pretty well with the grappling hook and the shotgun. Shooting anything cylindrical and red usually results in a Hollywood explosion… with the corresponding car flying through the air and spinning. However, I went completely crazy when I unlocked the thunder harpoons, which are like the explosive spears of Mad Max: Fury Road…but fired from a harpoon launcher.
Thunderbolts are devastating: they destroy armor, burst wheels and bumpers, and explode anything flammable nearby. The explosions are mammoth when the explosion of the explosive itself is combined with the explosion of the gasoline can and the car itself. They fly into the air and even damage other cars nearby.

One of my favorite moments so far (remember I have half the map left) was when we got caught in a storm in the middle of the battle. The convoy did not hesitate to continue even though there was nothing to be seen, so I continued forward. Also, the song had reached (again) at minute 2:10, which is when my favorite part begins. I was like Nux in Fury Road: “What a great day!”
The battle was resolved with three cars spinning across a plain. The VIP car exploded, but the remaining two (enemy and mine) managed to resist. The cars were left metal to metal and the enemy came out, giving me to understand that he wanted to settle the matter in classic style. I got out of the car and, after being hit by a metal plate in the storm, I smashed his head on the hood of my car.
I collected the prizes and the most complicated part arrived: surviving the storm. I got into the car to think about my next step and I could see that the enemy's car was protecting mine from the wind and all the metal it was dragging. The song was over, so I decided to take it off and wait for it to die down. I admit that the enemy car held up and protected me from the onslaught of the storm.
Playing Mad Max is not the most pleasant experience of my life, but I don't regret having given it another chance either. I don't know what awaits me in the northern area in terms of convoys, but I can usually see Immortan Joe's war truck… or something similar. I would also like the convoys to be active again after a while (only the convoys), but I think I'm nine years too late to make requests.
