Since the Xbox Series X/S consoles came on the market in 2020, the video game boxes on the Microsoft platform underwent a change. Seeking to offer a generation change, the company created a new design that showed if a title was compatible for Xbox One and the newly released machines.
That modification allowed more of the cover image to be displayed in the upper area, as well as a specification of features such as Smart Delivery. That has been the pattern we have known for four years, but Microsoft has changed its covers again without raising its voice to announce it.
If we go to the reservation of works like Kena: Bridge of Spirits on Xbox or Clock Tower Rewind At Limited Run Games, we will see that future releases have different covers. Here you can see the images of both games along with one of Forza Horizon 5 to be able to visually compare.
As you can see, the white box at the top left has disappeared and allows the image used to illustrate the cover to be shown more. Therefore, the platforms compatible with the video game are moved to the right in white, offering a more discreet and clean result.
For now, Microsoft has not echoed what happened and it does not seem that it will do so soon. On the other hand, it seems that the revision only affects the front, so all those who show off their Xbox games on the shelf will not have to worry about problems with symmetry. Presumably, projects like Avowed or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will also be affected.
