There have been several reasons why Hogwarts Legacy did not include mandatory multiplayer options in its proposal. But everything points to the fact that the sequel will not be exempt from including them, since Hogwarts Legacy 2 multiplayer could be a must-have feature for all players. We already saw in its first installment that the absence of Quidditch, which will have its own game with Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, as well as other options that would have allowed socializing with other players, were avoided in favor of a proposal focused on the narrative.
That narrative scope that introduced players to this world of magic might not be a sufficient reason for Warner Bros.' next project linked to this license, although it seems that the signs point to offering a service model like the one offered in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The multiplayer mode that seems to be planned would not only allow players to socialize and tackle the game's narrative cooperatively, but would also allow them to face each other through Quidditch matchmaking.
We know that the inclusion of Quidditch matches was not going to arrive in time, and any addition of options to socialize and tackle missions cooperatively were aspects that could have caused a little disappointment. However, the result that Hogwarts Legacy offered was a product that was well liked and was a major success. In the end, the decision to ignore all these multiplayer features seemed to be a good one. But given the opportunity to repeat success with its sequel, Warner Bros seems to require multiplayer for Hogwarts Legacy 2.
Throughout the article that has been published, the opportunity to fulfill some promises that were made some time ago for the first game is discussed in great detail. But they also question whether, given the result achieved with Hogwarts Legacy, the formula should be changed. It is true that taking the game linked to the DC Comics license as an example does not seem the most appropriate, since its sales speak of what is really achieved in this area of games as a service.
But we can also take as a reference the studies linked to the success of cooperative multiplayer in most proposals, with 2024 being a year in which this multiplayer mode is garnering important successes. There will be conflicting opinions about whether Hogwarts Legacy should remain a pure narrative experience.a, although there will also be those who believe that the option of adding co-op can enrich the experience.
It's too early to say anything, as the first game was expected to meet these requirements. Hogwarts Legacy is a well-rounded game, which we really liked, and which could have the original concept that they sought to achieve in its sequel. Would you like to see these options included in its sequel?
