The Pokémon Gold and Silver editions of the saga developed by Game Freak marked a before and after in the franchise, being for many the best that have been created to date, as well as their remakes for Nintendo DS. What's more, in terms of content they are of the most complete adventures of all by allowing you to visit the Johto region and the Kanto region, so you had to face their 16 gym leaders.
However, not all the areas that were designed made it to the final cut. There was one of them in particular that was already finished and can even be found in the internal files of these Game Boy titles. The problem is that it was a place that could have generated quite a bit of controversyso it seems that The Pokémon Company decided to take the easier route and not add it in order to avoid controversy.
This area in question was going to be a forest with immense dimensions and because it was a kind of labyrinth. However, the fact that it did not end up giving a good impression is due to the fact that It was based on the Suicide Forest in Japan.a place that exists in real life and where, unfortunately, more suicides occur worldwide with more than a hundred deaths a year.
During the development of Pokémon Gold and Silver It was already in mind to create a location that represented Mount Fuji, which is what ended up giving rise to Mount Silver, where the final battle of these games awaits. In the real world, at the foot of this mountain is Aokigahara, the aforementioned forest in which so many deaths take place, which is why Game Freak wanted the representation to be complete throughout the surroundings.
The truth is that the existence of this area of Johto has never been made known and therefore the true reasons why this forest is not part of the map are unknown. The most normal thing is to think that there would have been quite a stir, so perhaps it was for the best that, finally, be replaced by another completely different place that had nothing to do with it.
