If Maxis has always had one thing clear for its star saga, The Sims, it is to offer all possible options to its users, whether when designing the house of their dreams or how to deal with interpersonal relationships. Now the Californian company has wanted to go one step further with the next update of The Sims 4.
And it is that Polyamory comes to The Sims 4, offering more romantic possibilities than ever beforeThe addition of this romantic-affective option is part of the free patch that will arrive along with the new expansion Long live love! (this one is paid) on July 25, so all players of the Electronic Arts game will be able to use this feature regardless of whether or not they purchase the new DLC.
More romance options than ever in The Sims 4
This is how Maxis has explained the News from the next free update for The Sims 4:
“Free to all players is the new Romantic Bonds system, which will allow you to customize your Sim’s experience with bonds and jealousy. You can now define how your Sims approach romantic relationships in terms of physical, emotional, and romantic exclusivity. This will allow Sims to date multiple Sims without impacting other relationships.”
If you are a veteran of the series you probably know that having a romantic-sexual relationship with several sims simultaneously was already possible, but if your different partners found out it would not go down well. Now Maxis adds the possibility of having authentic polyamorous relationships and enjoy one more romantic option without feeling like you're cheating on your sim partner.
Life by You has been cancelled following the closure of the studio developing the high-end competitor to The Sims

The patch includes this new feature, but the expansion Viva el amor!, which will have a price of 39.99 eurosdoes incorporate other important new features that only those who purchase it will be able to enjoy. The main one is the addition of a dating app like so many that exist in real life and that will allow you to meet other sims with the same romantic-sexual thoughts as you and go on dates with them, as well as develop a more serious relationship afterwards if the occasion arises. Although rumors about The Sims 5 are becoming more frequent, Maxis continues to work on new paid content for the tireless The Sims 4. This new DLC, focused on romantic relationships, is its next stop.
