An update quite loaded with news.
Although it may not seem like it, the PlayStation 5 meets, during this 2023, the 3 years since its launch. In that time, we have received all kinds of video games for this console, as well as different pieces of hardware for it, such as the recent PlayStation VR2, but there is always something that people forget about: console updates. Yes, many times they are insignificant, serving only to fix different errors that were introduced in previous versions of the firmware, but on other occasions, like today, new capabilities are added for consoles.
As we have said, today a new update has arrived on PlayStation 5, which among other things that we will tell you about below, adds support for Discord on the platformsomething that had been waiting for a long time, and that was already available on Xbox consoles.
quite an interesting update
We start with the most important thing, and the first one that we have already mentioned is that yes, from now on, all PlayStation 5 users will be able to connect their Discord account, and use this platform within the console, although beware, it is not as easy as it seems. We say this because, unlike what we might think, we will have to start the call from a mobile or PC, and then send it to our PS5, that is, we will not be able to start calls from the console. Luckily, we have the precedent that this was the case, in the old days, on Xbox, but then they changed, to allow us to use it natively.
Beyond this, and avoiding the classic “error resolution of all kinds”, the next great addition would be VRR support (in Spanish it would be something like variable refresh rate) for 1440p resolution, which was added to the console in past updates. In addition, and lastly in terms of important additions, from now on it will be possible to Transfer data from one PS5 to anothersomething that until now could only be done using PlayStation Plus, but now it will work similar to how data is transferred from PS4 to PS5.
These are all the additions of this new firmware update, or at least the most notable, since the rest are trifles, which you can read on the PlayStation Blog.
