Atomic Heart was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of February, however, it had a highly uneven reception within the industry and surrounded by controversy. Here we tell you everything you need to know about this title.

In a month packed with releases, Atomic Heart knew how to establish itself as one of the most anticipated titles of this period, captivating all players thanks to its similarities to Bioshock and its Soviet theme. In any case, the reception of him was somewhat uneven, some who loved him, like others who hated him.

Now, what is it about this game that caused such a stir among players? Why is it said to resemble Bioshock? What is your strong point? On this note, We clear up all kinds of doubts and we tell you everything you need to know about Atomic Heart.

What is Atomic Heart?

Developed by Mundfish and published by Focus Entertainment, Atomic Heart is an action First Person Shooter. which places players in a parallel USSR of 1955, where the development of robots and artificial intelligence seem to have advanced by leaps and bounds. The world from the look of the game is a much simpler and happier place for all the people who live in the communist regime.

The controversy

The game was surrounded by controversy and accusations from its beginning. The Ukrainian government asked companies like Sony, Microsoft and PC distributors stop selling the game, but why?

The main problem is that mundfishthe game developer company is of Russian origin despite having its headquarters in the country Cyprus. Added to this, Alex Bornyakov, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation accused the company of exploiting and using player data for the Russian Government to use. This was denied by the company and clarified that the game does not collect sensitive information from players.

But perhaps the strongest controversy over the origin of the study and the sexualization of the characters (which also had its strong debate on the networks) is the position that the dev chose regarding his position regarding the war. They assured that they are an organization “peaceful against violence against people” avoiding any type of direct repudiation of Russia’s actions against Ukraine.

History

Set in the Soviet Union in 1955, the story of Atomic Heart is peculiar to say the least. Specifically, the game presents us with a retro-futuristic world in which communism seems to have triumphed over other ideologiesdominating the planet thanks to its advances in the creation of robots and Artificial Intelligence.

In this world where robots seem to have taken over all the tasks that humans have always disliked doing, happens what you can already imagine: Robots rebel against humans and it’s our mission to stop them before they escalate.

setting

With a premise of this caliber, it is to be expected that the setting of such a title is, to say the least, admirable; and the reality is that Atomic Heart in this aspect does not fail.

With an extremely colorful open world (for what a USSR theme can give) full of statues, great architecture, metallic everywhere, flying vehicles and robots much more friendly to the eye than you would expect for 1955, Atomic Heart poses a classic scenario but with its own imprint that will not leave anyone without amazement.

gameplay

Taking elements from both Bioshock and Wolfenstein, Atomic Heart offers a fluid and satisfying combat system that combines elements of first person shooter and a menu of abilities that will give us powers and abilities to advance in the story.

The game features a wide variety of weaponsabilities and improvements that you can unlock as we progress, allowing you to create traps for enemies, interchangeable cartridges for weapons, and even activate a scanner that allows you to detect the abilities and weak points of our rivals.

In addition to combat, Atomic Heart it also presents a series of puzzles and challenges that you must solve to progress; Despite not presenting a great difficulty, it is undoubtedly an addition that does not detract from the experience at all.

platforms

Finally, clarify that Atomic Heart is available on Ps4, Ps5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Game Pass and PC. As to this last platformthe minimum requirements to be able to enjoy the game in 1080p at 30 FPS are:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-2500
  • Memory: 8GB RAM
