Paradox has announced Cities: Skylines II anticipating its release for this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC. The news has been announced at a company event, the so-called Paradox Announcement Show 2023. The sequel to the original game from 2015 will become the most realistic city simulator ever created, allowing players to “build any type of city you can imagine and follow its growth from a humble village to a bustling metropolis”.

Cities: Skylines II will allow you to create from individual homes to the transportation system of a large city thanks to a deep and immersive simulator that wants to reach both veterans and new games. Although the details of the game have not been delved into, some rumors indicated that the sequel was going to offer a greater variety of gameplay.

Following their announcement, Mariina Hallikainen, CEO of developer Colossal Order, explained: “Cities: Skylines reset the standard for city building games when it launched eight years ago, and we are incredibly proud of its impact. We built a thriving community around cities and introduced many to city building for the first time“.

Now, with Cities: Skylines II, he wants to give “a new step forward in the city building genre“. That said, Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive, has explained that “the Cities brand has been an important part of the Paradox game catalog for over a decade“. In fact, from the company the first title is considered a great success by selling millions of copieshaving welcomed more than 5.5 million new players in the past alone since the title has even been free to play.
