Marvel It has a good number of premieres this year between movies and series, but the work that truly aims to be the true peach of the House of Ideas does not come from the UCM but from the Spiderverse. Indeed, we are talking about Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse. The sequel to the successful film announced in 2018 was so well received that Sony has taken the turbo and started doing different projects around Miles Morales.
With two films for 2023 and 2024 announced, it seemed that the company wants to remain calm in terms of the number of productions, but it seems that we will have something more of the animated wall-crawler this year. As reported by the Variety website, this summer we will have a short film starring Miles Morales and will receive the name of “The Spider Within”.
Variety has commented that this short film will be set in the world of the second part of the Spiderverse and that it explores the internal struggles of Miles with two facets: the responsibilities of a teenager, a friend and a student; and that of the superhero from the neighborhood of Queens. Apparently, Thousands will experience a panic attack Due to the various pressures he is under, he will have to ask his friends for help to deal with everything that comes with being Spider-Man.
This short film is part of the new mentoring program LENSES (Leading and Empowering New Storytellers) of Sony Pictures Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks, which aims to exploit the potential of its animators and scriptwriters through different works. The short is expected to premiere between June 11 and 17, 2023 during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
