Given the recent events, Square Enix proposes to remove its president, in a move that seeks a facelift before investors and before the public. The president who would be outlined for his dismissal, according to this document addressed to shareholders, is Yosuke Matsuda, a veteran of the company, belonging to it since the beginning of the 21st century.
Shareholder approval will be sought for this important move. The assembly to vote in favor or against will take place in June of this year. Matsuda is a benchmark in the company, older than many of the players who are now Square Enix fans. It is true that his work as his president began much later, his time as president being a very rocky path.
Square Enix proposes to remove its president Yosuke Matsuda for one without so many years within the company
Matsuda removed Yoichi Wada as president of Square Enix, back in 2013. Now, his removal is being requested in favor of Takashi Kiryuwho has been working at the company since June 2020. The statement gives vague answers, alluding to wanting to change the management team to be at the forefront of present and future technological innovations, as well as maximize creativity.
It is understood that Matsuda’s work was not in this line, being this a faithful blockchain technology advocate and its implementation in video games. Having, presumably, multiple projects linked to the blockchain, one wonders if the new president will continue with these works in progress.

Regarding the work of Square Enix with Yosuke Matsuda As president, it is not a secret that the developer is in decline in terms of quality and prestige. Their western studios sold them at a ridiculous price (in favor of capital for the blockchain), Marvel’s Avengers was a disaster in every way, and Forspoken was not what was expected either. It should be noted that the candidate for the new president is 47 years old, while the outgoing Matsuda is 59 years old.
