Surely many of you have heard the expression: “the price of fame”. Starfield, the new star of Bethesda and Microsoft, has been living it since the moment it was announced… and now even more after everything shown at the Starfield Direct at Summer Game Fest 2023. Although the trailers and the gameplay conquered us all, its Collector’s Edition (as cool as it looks) pissed off a lot of people.
All this has caused social networks to be filled with both positive and negative comments, although the latter tend to resonate much louder. Nothing new under the sun. However, there is a suspicious negative comment (with Note: 0) that has resonated louder than the rest and that would show (once again) the reliability of the web Metacritic or an excellent job in Photoshop.
Bethesda – Because creating games that work out of the box is less important than figuring out how to extract as much money from your bank account as possible. The Starfield 76 Super Special Edition packs the disappointment we expected. It comes with a shot glass so you can participate in the most recurring drinking game in internet history: take a shot every time Todd Howard lies. Better not do it, because you are going to die of an ethylic coma after only 5 of the 20 minutes of showing this “masterpiece” to the public that is actually a “disaster”. – GameRant and PeterOvo5 on Twitter.
This user, whose comment has been deleted and his profile is no longer available, has been the first to throw the first stone of the Review Bombing that we will surely see when it is launched Starfield. His criticism is focused on Bethesda and Todd Howard, and it seems he’s still pissed off about the release of Fallout 76, which he’d give up for a standalone special feature.
It goes without saying that criticism, understandable as it may be, is totally out of place. On the other hand, it is suspicious because shouldn’t be possible add reviews on Metacritic until media reviews and release arrive. There are three months left until Starfield launches and all we have are the trailers and gameplay shown so far. Come out looking good or bad, you’re going to be the center of attention for weeks.
- NOTE: We have contacted Metacritic to clarify if this has happened and how it could have happened if so. We will update if we have an answer.
