In a great action platformer Astro Bot there are a total of 305 robots that the player can collect within the game. Many of them are based on characters that have appeared in classic games throughout the 30 years of PlayStation consoles. There we can find both games created directly by Sony and also from other creators, such as Capcom or Konami. But the characters of one company that released key titles for the PlayStation are missing there.
Games from Square Enix you would search in vain in Astro Bot. It's a little surprising considering how important the game was to the first PlayStation Final Fantasy VII and other titles. The head of Team Asobi Nicolas Doucet sat down for an interview with journalist Stephen Totil, who asked him precisely why in Astro Bot we can't find Cloud or Sephiroth.
“It's hard to comment. (…) We respect each publisher's decision,” answers Doucet. In an interview, he said that he originally thought that about half of all the robots he wanted in the game would make it. “In the end, it was almost 100% because these partners simply raised their hand and said: absolutely,” describes the developer.
