Season 4 of The Boys has left us with a sixth episode that is hard to describe in words, even though we've just seen the goat madness of the previous one. We don't want to give any spoilers about this one, although we are going to reveal things about the last one. If you don't want to know anything, we recommend that you don't continue reading.
Its name, Something Stinks, does not do justice to all the shady things hidden in the episode. The Boys makes fun of Marvel and DC with references to two of the most iconic characters from each house: Spider-Man (which repeats after Invencible) and Batmanspecifically Bruce Wayne. It's hard not to notice, but it's okay if you've missed them.
Webweaver is a minor Super from The Boys who's themed around spiders and has a natural web-shooter like Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man located where his back loses its name, although there's one rather traumatic difference: he's addicted to heroin enemas and has some very curious sexual tastes… although he falls short of his reference partner. There are many clues throughout the episode, but the most blatant is that his safe word is Zendaya, the name of the actress who plays MJ to Tom Holland's Spidey.
Tek Knight is another minor Super of The Boys and minor villain of the series Gen V. DC's Bruce Wayne/Batman reference couldn't be more blatant: orphaned billionaire with a mansion, raised by a butler and a partner/sex slave dressed in a red leather suit. His family made their fortune hunting slaves and he continues the legacy with his prisons (like Arkham) and prison camps. His abilities are deduction, strength and superhuman senses.

The story ends so-so for Tek: his butler strangles him while saying, “I've raised this smug little bastard since he was little. I've put up with his whining about his career. I've cleaned semen out of so many holes I've lost count.” In short, two references that have not gone unnoticed by Marvel and DC fans.
