In a few months, we will finally be able to enjoy the new chapters of one of the highest-rated series on all of Netflix: Arcane. The adaptation of the successful Riot Games video game fell in love with both MOBA fans and those who never played it. However, that love will be fleeting, as the series will conclude with the second season.
As expected, many wondered why they decided to end the series with only two seasons, given that the LoL universe is huge. Christian Linkeshowrunner and co-creator of Arcane, answered this question in an interview with the BBC.
“This was the ending we wanted. When we started Arcane we had already seen many television series that didn't know when to stop. We didn't want to be one of them. We wanted to tell a very specific story and we had in mind an ending that was very adapted to it. That's all (…) Maybe we would do things differently if we started over. However, this is how we start. “We had to follow our instincts and tell the story this way.”
As Linke explains, from the beginning they knew the story they wanted to tell, and, unlike other successful franchises, Fortiche I was also aware that they should not stretch the gum too far if they wanted to have a series that was round from beginning to end.
Although Arcane will close its story next November, the creator of the series has already clarified in previous interviews that this is just the beginning of a very long journey with Riot Games, as he confirmed that they are already developing other animated projects related to League of Legends for the future.
