Korean developer Nexon has released one of its most anticipated titles of recent years. The First Descendant has finally made it past the beta stages to get a proper global release. With excitement sky-high, The First Descendant was a huge success in just two hours after its launch, amassing up to 170,000 simultaneous players on Valve's Steam platform alone. The F2P looter shooter looks to be making a strong entrance into the free-to-play gaming scene, but it's not all roses.
According to SteamDB data, The First Descendant welcomed a large number of players during the first 5 hours of its global release. Initially, there were up to 170,242 concurrent players in the first two hours of the game. The popularity of the title spread quickly, as three hours later it already had 200,000 active players by 12 am PDT on June 2nd.

At the time of writing this article, TThe First Descendant has approximately 208,000 players on Steam alonewhich means the actual player count could be even higher given that the title has also made its way to Xbox and PlayStation. Meanwhile, it currently sits at number six for most played games on Steam, but has thousands of less-than-favorable reviews.
With a total of 5,349 reviews on PC, the average has determined that it has a mixed reception, meaning that a large part of players are not satisfied with the final result. While 2,269 reviews give the game a good rating, the other large part mentions its technical shortcomings and its similarity to other titles in the genre such as Destiny or Warframe.
