In addition to conventional shonen and other high-impact series, the anime industry will welcome in 2024 a highly anticipated adaptation by horror fans: UzumakiThis series is expected to generate a lot of conversation and be included in lists of the best productions of the year.
After several delays due to the pandemic and other external problems, Junji Ito has confirmed in an interview with Japan Times that the adaptation of one of his best works will arrive on Adult Swim (or Max, in our region) later this year.
In the same interview, Ito revealed that one of the four episodes that will make up this miniseries is already complete, and stated that it meets his expectations. Therefore, an adaptation that is crazy, bizarre and, above all, terrifying is expected.
Uzumaki is not the first work of Junji Ito to be brought to the small screen. Several years ago, we were able to enjoy Junji Ito Collection on Crunchyroll, and in 2023, Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre, another series of mini-stories based on the works of the Japanese mangaka, premiered on Netflix.
