The nightmare has returned to HBO production. The Last of Us series has accumulated great praise from critics and the public in all its episodes, except for two very specific ones. The third chapter suffered a wave of homophobia And now with the most recent, the deplorable situation is relived in the main critical pages.
ATTENTION SPOILERS: from this moment on, the plot of the series and that of the video games will be discussed openly.
Episode seven of the first season chronicles the events that led to Ellie being bitten and infected by cordyceps. It is an adaptation of the DLC of the first game, Left Behind, which explored that passage from the past of the protagonist together with the relationship with Riley. Both lived together in a FEDRA center, but during one night they sneak into a closed shopping center to have a good time.
After enjoying the entertainment of the place, they both kiss, only to be interrupted later by an infected person who is the one who ends up infecting them. The two clutch at each other as they face the inevitable fate that awaits them, which is Riley turned mindless and Ellie discovering that she is immune. An absolutely magnificent conversion from the virtual to the real plane, but it has not satisfied a certain sector of the audience.
If we take a look at Metacritic, we see that the average user rating is 5.3, just one tenth above the rating that the Bill and Frank episode received. In the case of Imdb, we are facing the lowest score for the HBO series with a 7.9 based on 21,293 reviews. What is the coincidence between the two stories? A homosexual relationship is shown without any qualms on the screen.
merciless criticism
Taking a look at the texts written by the users who rated the chapter the worst, we can read the following opinions:
Another worthless crap episode just like episode 3. Just skip episode 3 & 7 because they are just woke propaganda made by Neil and whoever else.
Nobody needed this episode. He did not contribute anything. He only intended to show the image of a lesbian girl without giving us anything in return. Disappointing.
This is not The Last of Us, unfortunately. HBO ruined a great story with a stupid woke drama. The real The Last of Us keeps you tense throughout the journey, full of action, a lot of danger, zombies, bandits, soldiers. It’s not about fucking sex and susipusy stuff, who needs this in a zombie apocalypse movie?
Disgusting. A waste of time.
It is a real shame what they are doing with the series. The first episodes were worth it, they only seek the approval of the media. If you want to enjoy, play the video game

As with the Bill and Frank episode, on Imdb we can see a demographic graph of the users who have posted their reviews and the pattern repeats itself once again. Men are the ones who give the worst grade, especially from the age group that exceeds 30 years and especially low with 7.1 for those over 45 years. In total, 11.6% of the reviews on the platform appear with a score of 1, the lowest possible.
An unfortunate situation that, predictably, will be repeated with the second season addressing the events of The Last of Us Part II. Regarding this kind of comments from the public, Bella Ramsey has been very clear about what she thinks.
