Filming of The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will begin shortly
For more than a year, Max has been developing what will be the second Game of Thrones prequel series, known as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Its story will be set a century before the events of the parent series with two unlikely heroes wandering Westeros. These will be a young, naive but brave knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg.
While House of the Dragon will continue its story this summer, the new Game of Thrones prequel It will be set in an era when the Targaryen line still held the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon had not yet passed from living memory, so “great destinies, powerful enemies and dangerous deeds await these unlikely and incomparable friends.”
One of the main attractions of the adaptations comes from the places that are chosen to film them. Game of Thrones bet mainly in different places in Europemainly in countries such as Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland and Spain.
Spain stood out for using places of Seville, Girona and Peñíscolasomething that has happened again in The House of the Dragon, while in Northern Ireland the Doune Castle, Castle Ward and Ballintoy Harbor, among others. In Croatia, the city of Dubrovnik was used to represent King's Landing. Shots were captured from Iceland beyond the Wall, taking advantage of its unique landscapes.
Return to Belfast
The BBC reveals that The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be filmed in Belfast, the capital of Northern Ireland. Everything indicates that filming will begin shortly at the Titanic studios, so George RR Martin himself will visit the production in July when there is about a year left until its premiere.
“We've known about it for a few months, it's been pretty secretive,” explains Robert Dowling, owner of Game of Thrones Tours. “All our guides were extras in the original and they knew that a fantasy project would take place after How to Train Your Dragon”
After Belfast has not been used for The House of the Dragon, the new series featuring chosen protagonists will return to it to offer, what will surely be, beautiful landscapes.
