If you thought that John Wick 4 was going to be the end of the Wick universe, then you were sorely mistaken. The Continental series gave us a glimpse into the iconic hotel's past and the Ballerina movie will provide us with another perspective on the assassins under The Mesa. But it doesn't end there! John Wick 5 was confirmed and now we know that Chapter 4 will have a sequel in the form of a series.
Deadline has released an exclusive that has left us speechless: Lionsgate has given the green light for John Wick: Under The High Table (Under the High Table), a series produced by Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski, responsible for the original trilogy. It will be written by Robert Levine (The Old Man and Black Sails).
And what the hell is it about? John Wick: Under The High Table? The official description for the exclusive says that it “picks up after the end of Chapter 4. John Wick has left the world of the High Table in a precarious position and a cast of new characters will look to make a name for themselves, while some of the franchise's long-standing characters remain committed to the old world order.” It adds that it promises to “blend the new and the old and bring the Wick universe into a new era.”
In short, the John Wick universe will continue to expand after Chapter 4 in the form of a series. This doesn't rule out the arrival of new films, as is the case with Ballerina. The good news is that both Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski are attached to the project, so we can at least hope that the series lives up to the films.
