It's clear that this summer there will be two main characters in movie theaters: Deadpool and Wolverine. The Merc with a Mouth's first film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be much talked about thanks to its multiversal madness. However, unlike other productions from the studio, this installment will have a different style than what Marvel Studios has accustomed us to at present.
In an interview with the American media Entertainment Weekly, Shawn Levy explained that, unlike current films, Deadpool and Wolverine It will be inspired by the first Marvel installments, which focused more on character development than on the overall plot of the saga.
“The stakes for the characters are higher than the stakes globally in the MCU,” Levy said, confirming that we won't be seeing a film focused so much on Marvel's multiversal plot, but rather on the development of two characters who have been off screen for several years.
This installment is expected to be the gateway for the mutants to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in spectacular fashion. These multiversal journeys will allow for the appearance of relevant characters from other franchises in Marvel Studios, and everything points to several members of the X-Men joining their new home. Deadpool and Wolverine will hit theaters around the world on July 25, 2024.
