This is the explanation for Shoto Todoroki’s characteristic scar.
We all agree that Shoto Todoroki is one of the most emblematic characters and popular from My Hero Academia, a character who undoubtedly had a really complicated childhood. Proof of this is the existence of one of his most distinctive features, a large scar that runs along one half of his face. If you want to know how this wound arose, then we will tell you all the details.
As some of you already know, Todoroki is the son of Endeavor; one of the most important and strongest heroes of the series. Endeavor has a fire quirk, while Shoto has not only managed to inherit that ability from his father, but he also has an ice quirk.. Something that makes it really unique and powerful. Although Todoroki is initially presented as someone who doesn’t want to use his flame power, that will change very soon. Also remember that if you are interested in knowing who is the most powerful in My Hero Academia without using quirks, check out this news.
This is how Shoto Todoroki’s scar was formed
To put ourselves in a situation, we must remember that Todoroki is the result of an arranged marriage, that is: Endeavor chose her partner Rei because of the Quirk she possessed; the ice one. This was done so that the children were born with unique abilities and after several attempts, it was like that. Shoto Todoroki would have the best of both parents, but not everything was smooth sailing. Endeavor wanted to put his son through a big workout, that’s when Rei objected. That’s where hell began.
As a result of Rei’s protection, Endeavor became abusive towards her., which caused him to be hated by Rei and as a consequence, also by Todoroki. All this abuse mentally broke Rei and in one of Todoroki’s appearances where she surprises her, his mother pours boiling water on his face; giving rise to the so characteristic scar that we know today.
Coincidentally, the water falls on the left side of Todoroki’s face, part that “belongs” to Endeavor if we take into account the hair color that the character has. This could be interpreted as all the damage caused to him and his family is Endeavor’s fault.. As we told you at the beginning, Shoto Todoroki begins his journey as a hero without using his father’s powers since he blames him for everything that happened to him and his mother.
Time after, Shoto finally accepts his appearance and his two powers, giving rise to the use of both quirks and thus becoming a much more powerful character.. Basically because he is not limiting himself and is beginning to show his true potential. The Todoroki family has been through a lot and Endeavor finally seems to realize it’s his fault; but there is still a long way to go.
