This was something that had been talked about before, when rumors leaked about the possible help that Bethesda was receiving in the combat system of Starfield, from the creators of Doom and Doom Eternal. We are talking about ID Software, known primarily for being the head of Doom development and their amazing combat style.
In a recent interview for IGN, Todd Howard himself, director of Bethesda, has specified how the creators of Doom helped the team during development. Apart from helping with some advice regarding combat mechanics in Starfield, those of Bethesda also received help to improve the general graphic aspect of the title, which is why in the past Starfield Direct we saw a considerable difference between what we saw months ago and what more recent.
ID Software helped Bethesda develop the combat system and give the game a face lift to the graphics.
The space RPG of the moment has had the ID Software workers behind it,helping to polish and perfect the title in certain aspects such as combat, graphic quality and the type of immersion that we will have when facing the universe and all its dangers. Todd wanted to be honest in his most recent interview, while he took the opportunity to praise the work of the developers of Doom and Doom Eternal, two titles that have served as a reference when developing the Starfield combat system.
“We got into motion blur. It is the smoothness with which the game feels. Some of the things that they do at id Tech we wanted to carry over to Creation Engine 2, and they helped us do it, and you know, it’s great«.
After these words from Todd, he also took the opportunity to praise Doom and also commented that he had the privilege of taking a brief look of the next game that ID Software is up to. Obviously, he did not give us many more details about it either.
